Joyce Akins opened the meeting at 10:10 a.m.  She briefly discussed the JRR Dinner and hoped we would have enough members attending to have a table.  The Executive Committee had previously approved drawing names at the meeting in order that two paid members could attend at the Club's expense.  Bob Prater and Charles Deeds were the two whose names were drawn.  We have several members who plan to attend.  They are Joyce Akins, Carolyn Riley, Mike Laster, Aster Eyob, and Milton Winebrenner, in addition to Bob and Charles.

The minutes from August were read and approved.  The Treasurer's Report was given, with the balance on hand of $1,064.88.

Today's attendance was approximately 27 persons.

The candidates were introduced and included peter Brown, Annise Parker, a rep for Gene Locke, Paul Simon, Eugene Newsome, Karen Derr, Mike Laster, Laura Potter (rep for JoEllen Snow).  Each candidate made a brief presentation followed by questions.

Joyce provided snacks for the meeting and Joe Mumbach will provide them for October.
